Funnel Charts

The funnel chart helps in showing the outcome of a process that involves reduction or elimination at each progressive level.

For instance, if a data model from a firm’s sales department contained data for all sales leads generated during a period, as well as the number of leads followed up on, deals in process, deals actually closed, etc. a funnel chart would effectively represent the data at each stage of the sales process as the different segments of the funnel image. The largest segment would be the one on top corresponding to all the leads at the beginning of the process with the bottom most segment corresponding to the number of deals actually closed.

To generate the funnel chart in this case, the sales leads data column would be placed in the Y-axis field of the Chart Design page and the column with data which represents the stage that each lead is in would go to the X-axis. Here too if you wish to apply computations to the column values in the Y-axis, you may do so in the Chart Design page.
