Link Widgets in your dashboard view link all the widgets contained in the dashboard in such a way that filters applied in one widget will be applied to all the other widgets in the dashboard.
On opening your dashboard from My Reports, Link Widgets is selected by default in your dashboard view.

The following screen shows the Product Category filters applied in the pivot widget. The same filters have also been applied to all the other widgets in the dashboard.
